Hi Jens!
Hope all is well!
I am trying to get a general consensus of what most of the reefing community is using.
My glass size is 1/2” which is approximately 13mm. I’am currently using the Tunze care magnet but when scraping hard coralline algae the blue clip becomes loose and therefore the metal blade also comes loose. I believe Tunze is coming out with a fibreglass clip which makes it more rigid and supposed to alleviate this issue.

Which algae magnet do you use?
JBL
MagFloat
Tunze

Thanks Klaus!
I have seen mixed reviews on these pumps. Some say they are quiet some say they are loud. The fact that they use a 2 pole motor does not help with quietness. -
I am looking for some reviews on the Sicce SDC line of return pumps.
Not many in North America so I am wondering if it's more common here.
Thank you -
Klaus,
The two impellers at the very top, one red, one white, which looks like a meshwheel, is this a replacement for the pinwheel design?
Thanks

Wer stellt denn ständig seinen AS ein?
+1

HI Peter
This seems very popular among high end reefers. User friendly.
Luc and Mo are currently running them as well.

Hello Klaus
That is nice to see DC pump with Hastalloy Will that be standard or option.
But will the meshwheel be out of balance?
Also the meshwheel will produce alot of air but maybe move less water. -
Hello Klaus
Will these DC pump run best with pin wheel or hastalloy mesh wheel.
Thanks

I didn't quite understand the full conversation on the precipitation of trace elements when making new salt water. I wanted to know if when new salt water is made, must it be used right away or other wise the trace elements will be oxidized, or can you leave it in a bucket for a couple of days with a pump circulating?
Thanks

@ Claude: The steps that you recommended is exactly what I was thinking of doing. I was also considering the Aqua Connect 14K Plus bulb but when I saw a few of them, they were running on the pink side. Thanks again for the recommendations.
@ MBB: In Canada, a lot of hobbyists seem to be running 20K metal halides without T5s or supplemental lighting. From my experiences, I found that with 20K it seems too blue for my tastes, but it does vary from bulb to bulb. Thanks for your helpful comments. BTW, I checked out your website and saw some of your photos. Just wondering what kind of bulbs you are using.
Thanks again everyone!

Hallo Claude:
Thank you for your response! This information makes a lot of sense. As I mentioned, I am currently running 2 x 400watt BLV HQI bulbs with 2 Aqua Science T5s. Originally I ran 2 x 400 watt BLVs on their own and I noticed that the tank had more of a yellow appearance. I then added the 2 T5s which helped bring out more of the blue and minimize the yellow. I was considering adding another 2 T5s - do you think that would make the tank too blue? How many T5s would you run with the 2 400watt BLVs (14K).
Many thanks again for your help!

Hello:
I am interested in finding out what type of lighting is most commonly used in Germany. For 400 watt HQI, are the kelvins most commonly used the 10,000K, 14,000K or 20,000K?I currently am running 2 x 400watt HQI 14,000K Ushio with 2 x 54watt T5 (22,000K - Aqua Perfekt). I found this interesting article published by Dana Riddle on how blue light spectrum may provide better growth, in contrast to the thinking that lower Kelvins provide better growth.
